Humorous real life photos give you more reach
On
Pinterest, success is as much about who is sharing your content as the
number of people following you. Sharing funny everyday photos will mean
people will like them and share them, so you will be more visible to
people who might then come and follow you or your boards.
Create boards for popular themes
Fans
of Batman or Dr Who, for example, create boards on Pinterest to collate
all kinds of pictures from around the web. Recently, I promoted a
competition on one site to give away a copy of Nativity 2, starring
David Tennant. The picture from the competition was shared by a David
Tennant fan on their Pinterest board.
Find cool products people will want to share
The
Batman search light featured above was re-pinned 20 times within a day
of me posting it and liked by 10 people. Cool products are popular. You
can go further by featuring those products on your own blog first and
sharing it from there. That way, you get the backlink from Pinterest as
well.
The image is everything
Pinterest is all about
attractive imagery. The better the image the more likely people are to
appreciate it. Find websites and articles with great imagery and pin
those. If you are publishing articles that you want people to share on
Pinterest, use great artwork to accompany the article.
Like and re-pin other people’s pins
Talking
to and responding to other Pinterest users is more likely to gain you
appreciative followers. The more followers you have, the more of their
followers you are likely to reach.
Build boards for your own brand
Coca-cola
board exist on Pinterest where all kinds of photos are collated, all
featuring the Coca-Cola logo. If you build a brand board you can then
collate content from around the web where people are promoting your
brand. This will encourage more people to promote your brand.
